CosMedical, a plastic surgery practice in Paramus,
New Jersey, began this message board about 4 years ago. It was done as a
service to our patients to be able to communicate one-on-one, patient to
patient, about their thoughts regarding the operation and ways of improving
their preoperative and post operative care and expectations. It was also a
wonderful support mechanism for patients.
In the last several years we have performed well
over 500 of these operations with an extremely high success and satisfaction
rate. We knew who all of the patients were on this forum as we did all of the
consultations and the surgeries. As time went on and the operation gained
popularity, many doctors began doing one or two or a few cases per year. We
cannot be responsible for the expectations of patients when surgery is performed
elsewhere by other doctors. The general tone on the message board became
negative in a way we felt was not benefiting our patients so we closed it down
for a period of time.
Many of our own patients who rely on this message
board have called and e-mailed us asking for it to be reopened. We are trying it
a little differently this time. We will be monitoring the forum and we will try
to present a balanced view. Negative, disparaging postings will be removed. The
intention of this forum is to keep things positive and informational.
We fully understand that many patients who are viewing this board will not be
coming to us for surgery. We gladly offer our "digital consultation"
