I had SBR w/ Dr. Baxt on 1/22/07. I wanted to post my experience since I spent so much time on this forum for information. Prior to the surgery I was a 36DD my left breast>right breast 5' 2" tall and 140Lbs. I had moderate back and shoulder pain. I have 2 children: 20mos and 6mos old.

On 1/22/08, I arrived at the office at 6:45 am. My husband and I stayed overnight at a nearby hotel since we lived 2 1/2 hours away. The nurses were wonderful and made me feel very comfortable as I was very nervous. Before I knew it, I was brought into the OR and only remember waking up with a warm fuzzy blanket. I did have some discomfort when I woke up, but the nurses quickly took care of that with some pain medications. Dr. Baxt was able to remove 1000cc from my left breast and 850 cc from the right breast  . We drove home that same day. We stopped for some lunch and then I took a nap in the afternoon. Unlike most people on this forum I had the most discomfort the first two days. I did take the pain meds for two days. Dr. Baxt warns you that day 3-5 when the swelling is the worst that you may need to take some medication. As I stated before that was not true for myself. I was able to take a shower on day 2. My breasts were sore, swollen and bruised, but noticed that they were lighter and smaller even though they were swollen. The bra I wore to the surgery was big on me!!!! I wore my enell sports bra during the day and a regular sports bra at night with the binder. As days went by my bruising and swelling was slowly subsiding. I went back to work on the following Monday with minor discomfort. I was worried because I have a very physical job. Of course with children so young, this operation gave me a chance to hold and take of my children after the second day which I would never been able to do with a traditional breast reduction.

It has been over 10 days since my surgery, my breasts are slightly sore and the bruising is completely gone. The scars have completely healed. There is some lumpiness and I continue to wear my enell sports bra. I no longer wear the binder. There still is some swelling, and I already fit into 36D bra. So I hoping I will shrink some more over time. So far I am very happy with the results.

Dr. Baxt is a wonderful surgeon and he has a great staff. I highly recommend everyone to consider this surgery if you are thinking about breast reduction.
