Week 1
I felt great and even energized the first moments following the surgery. Once I got home, the exhaustion took hold of me and I slept well and deeply that night. The second day and night were the most difficult. Despite the medication I was on, I felt tender and extremely swollen. The pressure of the binder (you have to wear one for two weeks post-op) gave me a migraine that wouldn't cease. Come day 3 I was tired but felt little pain and was off the pain medication. Within a few days I could put myself in the binder without serious discomfort.
A fairly large bruise had formed on one of my breasts, but Dr. Baxt had warned me not to be too concerned. In fact, I had expected much more bruising. By the end of the week, I felt a lot of tingling and my breasts were a numb to the touch. At this time I was first able to discern some fairly large lumps, especially under the areas in which the bruising had formed.
Week 2
By the second week, the bruises started to fade but the lumps were still quite hard. My breasts remain numb to the touch. Only now at the end of the second week are they starting to feel normal, though they remain quite swollen.
So far, Dr. Baxt's prediction that my breasts will have gone down a little more than a cup size have been accurate. They are one full cup size down now, but still feel swollen. I am assuming that they still have quite some "deflating" to do in the future, which I am quite certain they will.
