SBR and Lipo at same time? Good idea? Bad?

Hi all. I was just wondering if anyone has had a SBR and liposuction done at the same time and what your thoughts/feelings were toward it.

For example, the only parts of my body that I'm really unhappy with are my breasts and the "spare tire" that insists on staying around my middle. So I was thinking, if I was going to fix one, may as well fix both together.

My questions are in regards to amount of pain, time to heal, etc compared to only having one surgery or the other. Are two surgeries too much to handle at one time?

I appreciate any feedback. Thank you!

Oh, by the way, I'm 23 and a little overweight, about 20 lbs. I've lost weight before though and neither one of these "problem areas" went away. But maybe being fairly young is a good thing in terms of healing quicker, etc??

I have been thinking about the same thing and would be very interested in the replies. The doctor said it was no problem but I am fearful.

Hi all!

Yes, we see many patients who do in fact decide on an additional procedure...that is only if you are in fact a candidate for those procedures and it is within the safety guidlines. We do our digital consultaiton for our out of area patients and ask that additional photos be submitted in order to view the areas they wish to improve in addition to the scarles breast reduction. Dr. Baxt would make an overall decision on whether those procedures can be combined based on each patient's medical profile. The combination of procedures is not only cost effective but time saving as the patient would not have to travel twice.

Feel free to email me privately or call anytime and I will walk you through the steps of a digital consultation.

Have a great day!! :D

Sincerely,

It's been 3 years since my original post, but I just thought I'd come back and let you know that I did indeed decide to go ahead with the abdominal lipo in addition to SBR. I'm only 3 days post-op right now and feeling pretty good. However, I must admit that while my breasts have given me no trouble or pain whatsoever, the abdominal lipo recovery is really uncomfortable! My breasts are only slightly sore and that's if you really press on them. In comparison, my abdomen is still really sore even when I'm not moving or touching it at all. I'm assuming this is because the abdomen area is larger and therefore had more fat taken out and therefore was more invasive and painful? Has this been the case for everyone else who had both procedures?

good idea-get it out of the way all at once-less down time!

all right. well forgive my delay in posting post op. I had the luck of coming down with the flu on top of my SBR, axillary flap, and abdominal lipo!! Hey but I'm here in good spirits to tell you about it. this morning marks the 10th day since my surgery and aside from still trying to get over my respiratory condition which has me feel rather lagged, I am back in the saddle again. I was out of work for a week. The flu really rocked my world, kicked me while I was down. But since the fever and that passed, I have walked my young energetic Duffy, two and three times a day since Monday. I agree wholeheartedly with the girl who posted and described the SBR as minimal in the pain category. If I had only had SBR there would really be little to talk about beyond bruising and soreness as far as recovery aside from my delight with the results in such a short time. Dr. Baxt used the body jet and so far the results are quite amazing. We thought I might have needed the traditional reduction and lift (little desire to take that route) but so far we are looking REALLY good. As far as the abdominal lipo it was clearly the more painful process but only kept me down for less than a week with a kick-butt case of the flu on top of it.

I'm 48, Dr. Baxt saw me again 8 days after surgery. He looked at me before my chart and asked, "how long has it been 2 or 3 weeks since surgery?" he was that impressed with the results and healing. At that point I got a 4 out of 5 on the scale in such a short time. He only used the body jet on my SBR and axillary flaps so the abdominal healing seems a little slower. I am looking forward to being able to do some work at the gym on my chest muscles because I think that will be all I need.

I am very grateful to Dr. Baxt.

I have been thinking about doing the same. Those of you that did go through with it, do you mind sharing what the extra cost of the abdominal lipo was? I know its probably different for each individual depending on their case but just to get an idea...
